So your baby is a year old?
After you dry your tears take a minute to look at a few ideas and things to keep in mind before you book your session.
Cake smashes are so popular! Some we can do outdoors, but most of the time they work the best indoors.
A lot of my clients look to pinterest for ideas- I have combed through ideas for you as well. I always suggest starting with a cute outfit that fits your theme and encourage a few family break downs before the cake smash as those are always welcome. I understand that you want to capture those moments but also want to focus more on your birthday baby. We finish up with a 'down to the diaper' cake smash. It's an easy clean up with a few wipes and paper towels. I have a few different cake stands that allow babies feet to tuck under so they can dive right in to their cake. Dont forget to take the cake out of the fridge a few hrs before so it can thaw a little for baby to eat.
Many people will put in orders for cakes a few weeks in advance, especially if you want customization. You can get a plain 4 inch peanut butter chocolate vegan cake from Whole Foods for only $19. Some parents also go with the cup cake choice. Whichever way you go, I always ask if you want to keep the remaining cake. ; )
Outdoor cake smashes are adorable as well, sometimes it's a little harder to clean up, but we've had cute results from it. The weather has to be just right for it. Not too hot or cold. Typically my turn around time for returning photos is about a week, So if there's a party you need the photos for we can plan ahead or I can focus on birthday pics first and send those sooner.
