What expectations do you have of your experience?

Expectations and Realities of photosessions.
We scroll and scroll throught social media hours a day. We are set up with an idea of what life is suppose to be like. You come across a photographer who did a session of what looks like that perfect family. Every one is looking at the camera, theres no folds in the clothes, hair is perfect in the the place it's suppose to be. This is the photo you want on your wall of your family. Everything to a T. This feeling of excitement starts the joy and anxiety that follows, leading up to your session. You've picked your photographer, put your deposit down, agreed on a location and you keep seeing that family. You start looking on pinterest for outfit ideas.
BELIEVE ME
It's tough!!!! I never knew how bad it was till I had to plan a group photo of my own family. EVERY SINGLE COLOR HAS ITS OWN SHADE!!!! What even is this? Lets go 90s then- white button ups and blue jeans. NO. lets not do that. (these are all my internal thoughts as I'm shopping with my sister in law)
You find your self pinning away and you keep seeing these families that are just photographing perfect, then your mind starts to wonder again. You start to think about how your kids will act. Should I bribe them? Husband has already huffed and puffed. Are the kids going to listen? Anxiety starts up again.
I'm here to tell you, that's its alright! Some of those pins (most of them probably) are models. They are stylized photoshoots. The expectation and reality of photography are different, there are those moments, where everything comes to together and sometimes it happens so fast, you don't see it.
But I do. And I snap away. It all goes by very fast. The reality of it is, your family photos are going to have great moments and very random moments. embrace them. Don't stress out about how your kids are acting or how dad is acting (we see you dad... and we know you hate pictures, we hear you... every.... single.... time.... we.... book..... a.... session.....) Anyway.
Here's another example of what you may get from your session
